Etha - Tofas 57:78
Tofas cruise to a big win in Nicosia in Round 2 of EuroChallenge. The Turkish side celebrated their first 78:57 victory for 1-1 record in Group A. The team from Cyprus meanwhile fell at 0-2 record.
Tofas erupted with 28-15 in the first period and never looked behind at the rest of the game. Both teams nailed 14 points each in the second frame for 42:29 guests lead. Steven Burtt (185-G-84, college: Iona) opened the third period for 44:31 and then Austin Nichols (200-SF-82, college: Humboldt St.) brought 50:37 midway through the third quarter. Etha however reduced to 48:55 at the end of 30 minutes, but failed in the last stanza. Due to 23-9 the guests managed to escape with the easy win.
Ukrainian naturalized Steven Burtt led the way with 23 points and Austin Nichols added 15. Chinemelu Elonu (206-F/C-87, college: Texas A&M) collected 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Samet Geyik (205-F-93) had 9. Dejan Cup (202-PF-83) finished the game with 17 points in the losing effort, while Donte Poole (190-G-89, college: Murray St.) poured in 10. Ogooluwa Adegboye (182-PG-87, college:St.Bonaventure) tossed in 9 and Jonas Zohore Bergstedt (210-C-91) scored 8.
