Tofas needs overtime to beat Krka in Round 3 of EuroChallenge. The Turkish team had a strong first half and then added 20-17 in extra time for 82:79 win. Tofas improved to 2-1 record in Group A, while the Slovenian side fell at 1-2 record.
Tofas won the opening period 12-11 and added massive 24-14 in the second frame. The hosts enjoyed 11-point advantage at the halftime, but could not win the game at regulation. Krka needed 17-8 in the third period and 20-18 in the fourth quarter to tie the game after 4 quarters. Steven Burtt (185-G-84, college: Iona) and Austin Nichols (200-SF-82, college: Humboldt St.) were perfect from the free throw line at the end of extra time for the total success.
Austin Nichols and Steven Burtt top-scored for the winners with 19 points each. Tomislav Ruzic (207-F/C-79) netted 11 and Inanc Koc (202-F-79) posted 10. Domen Lorbek (198-G/F-85) replied with 18 points in defeat, while Jakov Vladovic (187-PG-83) nailed 13. Jure Lalic (210-C-86) hauled 12, whilstUros Lucic (207-C-83) chipped in 11 points.
